Privacy Policy

The short version

Foldesk is a local-first desktop application. It works directly on your computer's file system, requires no account, and your files never leave your machine. We built it that way on purpose.

The Foldesk app

• Your files stay local. The app reads and writes files only on drives you browse to. Nothing is uploaded, indexed remotely, or synced anywhere.
• No account, no sign-in. The app does not ask for or store any personal information.
• Update checks. The only network request the app makes is to GitHub Releases to check whether a newer version is available. This request is served by GitHub and is subject to GitHub's privacy policy.
• Settings stay local. Preferences, saved layouts, and the undo staging area are stored in the app's data folder on your computer and never transmitted.

This website

• Downloads are served from our own content delivery network. Downloading the app requires no account, and we do not track who downloads it.
• No registration. You do not need an account to browse this site or download the app.
• Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify you.
